During the Second Session of the Legislative Assembly 2025, Hon’ble Member Shri Pankaj Patel (Mungra Badshahpur) asked a question regarding the status of students and teachers in basic education institutions across the state. In response, the Minister of Basic Education shared the data, which reflects that around 1.2 lakh teaching vacancies will be released for Primary and Upper Primary Sections.
UP Government To Recruit 1.2 Lakh Teacher Vacancies
The Hon’ble Minister of Basic Education has provided the following data regarding the current status of student enrollment and teacher appointments in basic schools across the state. As per the data, there are 79296 vacant teacher posts in primary schools and 41338 vacant posts in upper primary schools, which makes a total of 120634 vacant seats across the state.

Student-Teacher Ratio Policy
In response to the student-teacher ratio, the government has confirmed that a fixed ratio is as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 is as follows:
- 30:1 for Primary Schools
- 35:1 for Upper Primary Schools
Eligibility for Teaching Vacancies
The eligiblity for Primary Teacher (Classes 1 to 5) and Trained Graduate Teacher (Classes 6 to 8) is as follows:
For Primary Teacher (Classes 1 to 5):
- Age Limit: 21 to 60 years
- Qualification: Senior Secondary (12th) + D.El.Ed or B.El.Ed
- Exam Requirement: Must have passed UPTET or CTET
For Trained Graduate Teacher (Classes 6 to 8):
- Age Limit: 21 to 60 years
- Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject + B.Ed
- Exam Requirement: Must have passed UPTET or CTET Paper II
Why Super TET is Important for Teaching Aspirants?
The UP Super TET (Super Teacher Eligibility Test) is a state-level exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board (UPBEB) for the recruitment of Teachers in primary and upper primary schools of Uttar Pradesh. To be eligible for the UP Super TET exam, candidates must have qualified either UPTET or CTET. Without passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), candidates are not allowed to apply for the Super TET.
