The TNPSC Group 2 Preliminary Exam is conducted for 200 objective questions carrying a total of 300 marks. Each correct answer is awarded 1.5 marks, and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. The question paper consists of General Studies (75 questions), Aptitude & Mental Ability (25 questions), and General Tamil or General English (100 questions).
